A Movement to Ignite a New Lamp of Knowledge
In today's digital era, the love for reading seems to be fading due to the growing influence of mobile phones and social media. The Reading Resolution of Maharashtra movement emerges with the goal of reviving the reading culture among everyone—from students to adults.
Reading is not merely a source of entertainment; it is an essential part of personality development. Reading enhances one's thinking ability, imagination, and creativity.
Moreover, the knowledge gained from books guides us and gives direction to life.
Campaign Goals
The Reading Resolution of Maharashtra aims to create a comprehensive ecosystem that nurtures reading habits across all sections of society through structured initiatives and community participation.
Encourage every individual to read for at least 30 minutes every day, building consistency and fostering lifelong learning.
Equip and strengthen libraries in schools, colleges, and public reading centers, ensuring their active use by all.
Encourage Marathi literature and promote books written by local authors to preserve cultural heritage.
Conduct reading-based discussions, competitions, and workshops in schools, colleges, and social institutions.
Student Development
Under the Reading Resolution of Maharashtra initiative, various activities will be conducted to nurture the reading habit among students. Story reading, analysis of science fiction, debates on autobiographies and novels—all will contribute to the holistic development of students.
Community Participation
Every citizen must take initiative to preserve and promote the reading culture. Teachers should inspire students, parents should create a reading-friendly environment at home, and the youth should dedicate time to reading. Together, we can build a knowledge-driven society.
HBSU School Connect 2.0 Initiative
Through the School Connect 2.0 initiative, Dr. Homi Bhabha State University bridges the gap between schools and higher education — helping students, teachers, and parents understand emerging opportunities under the National Education Policy (NEP 2020).
Sessions are conducted by university faculty and trained resource persons to guide students on NEP 2020 reforms, new academic structures, and career pathways.
Students receive hands-on exposure to skill-based and multidisciplinary programs, including Apprenticeship Embedded Degrees and SWAYAM courses.
Workshops, interactive sessions, and campus visits encourage dialogue between school teachers, university mentors, and students — fostering experiential learning.
Participating schools and volunteers receive official certificates from Dr. Homi Bhabha State University, acknowledging their contribution to the state-wide NEP awareness mission.
About the Initiative
Guiding principles that shape Dr. Homi Bhabha State University’s outreach and School Connect 2.0 activities.
To nurture curiosity and a lifelong love of learning among students through sustained school–university partnerships, hands-on workshops, campus exposure, and mentorship aligned with NEP 2020 principles.
To create a reading and research-driven academic culture across Maharashtra where students are equipped with multidisciplinary skills, digital literacy, and the capacity to pursue lifelong learning.
“Education is not only the transmission of knowledge — it is the cultivation of curiosity, character, and civic responsibility.”
Voices from the field
“This university has constituent colleges that have produced many great thinkers, writers, and nation-builders. Its libraries hold numerous jewel-like books. The great human being who gave the motto “If you read, you will survive” was once a student here. Therefore, it is natural and commendable for this university to take the initiative to uphold the reading culture through the “Reading Pledge of Maharashtra” campaign. Best wishes!.”
